MY FAVORITE BROWNIES
from the Isaac H. Evans

3/4 C. sugar
1/2 C. butter
2 T. water
8 oz. semi-sweet baking chocolate
2 eggs
2 t. vanilla extract
1 C. flour
1/4 t. baking soda
1/4 t. salt

In a saucepan heat sugar, butter, and water until it just boils (stir constantly). Remove from heat and stir in eggs one at a time until mixed in well. Stir in vanilla. Add flour, baking soda, and salt; stir well.

Cook in a greased baking pan at 350 degrees until a wooden toothpick inserted in the center come out slightly sticky (not clean!). Cool before cutting.

Sometimes I like to add 3/4 C. chopped walnuts but sometimes I leave them plain. On the schooner we make two batches of each to make sure we cover all the bases!
